Hey guys! Now that you're in Bs As, I can't withhold this glorious tidbit from you: every Monday (at least when I was there earlier this year) there was a big drumming circle event at the KONEX cultural center (3131 Sarmiento is the address). It's called the "Bomba de Tiempo" (Time-Bomb), and it's AWESOME! 7 to 10pm, 10 pesos to get in, 10 pesos for a giant beer...
You should probably ask you're friends down there to find out if it's still going on, but if it is, you really don't want to miss it. I ended up going to see it 3 times.
Also, a really cool quick escape from the big city is Tigre. It's basically a town with a network of rivers instead of streets, and once you're there it's hard to believe that you're only 2 hours out of the city. Let me know if you want any more information, and I can let you know where to stay.
