May 2010 Update

Check out Sabrina's new toy-playing skills!

(sorry for the poor video quality - it was too bright behind her!)
She is moving so much these days that we really have to watch out with her in the chair on top of the kitchen island. This video was taken on 5/5/2010, but I'm just now posting it. As you may have noticed, it's pretty hard to keep up with postings now that we are both working, but we will continue to do our best. We love recording her milestones and sharing pictures with everybody, so here comes an onslaught of photos to catch up on the past month. I've been working for 4 weeks now and we are really getting into the groove. Sabrina continues to do wonderfully at daycare. They love her and she seems to love them too. She smiles when we drop her off and she's always happy and content when we pick her up. It's such a nice feeling. She's a bottle pro and I am almost perfectly in sync with her with pumping at work. It's still a pain to handle the bottle washing and all, but I got a nice "pumping room" at the office with a beautiful view of the mountains and I can leave my pump and accessories in there all day which makes it much easier to do frequent pumping sessions while working. I even have a picture of Sabrina there which helps a lot.

This week at daycare, her teacher, Hannah, made collages for all the kids that have pictures of their family. So now she can look at all of her aunts, uncles, grandparents...and Pongo each day when she's at daycare. I thought it was a great idea!

Here are some of the highlights of the past few weeks.

Sabrina has definitely entered a phase where EVERYTHING goes into her mouth. Especially things that aren't toys (of course). She loves plastic bags, wrapping paper and ribbons (shown here) and anything with a crinkle or any interesting sound.

Sabrina still loves "senor frog" and we try not to leave home without him. I bought another one a few weeks ago just so we'd never be without him...but usually that means we either have 2 frogs or none. hmm...we'll get better about this toy thing.

Just looking sweet

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day! Brent went all out and made the entire weekend fantastic. We went to a show in Denver on Saturday (thanks Nana & Poppy for babysitting). On Sunday I ran a 9K race in the morning with almost 3000 other moms. It was a gorgeous day and I ran with friends Diedre, Tara and Shannon. The dads hung with the kids at the end and cheered us on as we finished. Then we had Nana, Poppy, Natalie, Kurt and Cecilia over at our house for lunch cooked by the guys. We Moms stayed outside all afternoon and worked (and finished!) the Sunday New York Times Crossword puzzle. Here I am with Tara and Diedre at the finish line and another picture of us enjoying our great lunch.

Sabrina's favorite new toy is this ExcerSaucer - she can spin around in it to play with all the toys around the edge. And, yet again, every toy goes right in her mouth. She has one of these at daycare and they say that she loves it so when a friend at work was getting rid of hers, I snatched it up and Sabrina seems pretty happy about it.

We had lunch with Lea and Erik to celebrate Lea's birthday. We picked up Sabrina from daycare and then dropped her back off after lunch. It was great to see her in the middle of the day. Erik thought she was pretty cute except "she dribbles a lot" - which is true. Could she be teething?

Lisa and Gary just bought a gorgeous new property in North Boulder where they had a BBQ for all of us (before they tear down the house!). Poppy and Sabrina enjoyed the empty living room floor which proved great for rollover practice (we had a good weekend with lots of rollovers) and also we discovered that Sabrina loves the Pillow Game. Which means that Poppy holds her by cradling her in a pillow and swings her towards people and she laughs and laughs and laughs. She has the cutest laugh ever these days and I'll try to catch a good one on film soon.
Ashley is here for a week, ostensibly for her sister-in-law's high school graduation, but we're pretty sure she's just making excuses to come hold Sabrina some more! Sabrina sure loves her and spent a good part of today laughing and smiling at her, both in the car and on a walk downtown to Pearl St.

The only unfortunate news right now is that Sabrina had a cold a few weeks ago and now she has a nasty lingering cough that just won't quit. She's having a hard time sleeping through the night due to the cough, so we've been having a few more middle-of-the-night family bonding sessions than we'd like. Last night was a doozy with a cough-induced spit-up which required a 2am sheet change, dryer session for her swaddle blanket, and call to the on-call nurse at Children's Hospital. Yuck. The nurse said there isn't much more to do than what we're already doing, so we're just hoping that she keeps fighting and can manage to sleep through the night tonight. They won't give a baby her age any type of medicine (which we agree with) but it's hard not to be able to help our little girl. She's sleeping soundly right now so hopefully she'll have a good night.
Sorry for the long post, but I hope you all feel fully up-to-date now! Love to everybody...we're off to another week of work, daycare, volleyball, piano, etc.
